This page opens Pocketsize with the file type pinned to JPEG. Instead of asking you to guess a quality number, it asks one question — how close must the result look? — then tests real JPEG quality levels, measures each against your original, and keeps the smallest file that clears the bar you chose.
Recompressing a JPEG is where quality quietly dies in most tools, because nobody measures. Pocketsize measures: every kept file shows its visual-match score, the before/after slider and difference view show you exactly what changed, and a result that comes out bigger than your original is thrown away in favour of the original itself.
Your pictures never leave your computer: the compression runs in your browser, on your own device, and you can verify that yourself in about a minute. After one visit it even works with no internet at all.

JPEG cannot store transparency, so Pocketsize asks you once whether to keep those images as PNG or flatten them onto white — it never decides silently.
